Welcome to the Eco Church webpage
It is so relevant and exciting that we are now embarking on our Eco Church journey.
It seems that everyday we hear in the news of a country suffering with extreme weather, flooding or fire caused by climate change. In addition, we regularly learn of a new supermarket initiative or major companies intentions to reduce waste. The BBC have launched their ‘Our Planet Matters’ a regular series of climate change programmes throughout 2020, plus young people are getting engaged in the debate and demanding action at a political level.
There is no denying the devastation that climate change is causing but the voices are getting louder and louder in saying we need to stop, listen and change our lifestyle on a personal, local and national level and protect the wonderful planet that God created for us.
Our Church can take a great lead on this in Worcester which will benefit and encourage the wider community. A Creation Care Team within the Church has been formed to work towards the Eco Church awards run by Arocha. The aim is to make the Church more sustainable for example, by reducing our carbon footprint and energy bills. There is so much we can learn which will also have the benefit of improving our own daily lives.
Update - September 2020
