Student Youth Worker (Part Time)

Do you want to study for a Christian youth work degree and be paid?

We are seeking to recruit a Student Youth Worker to join us at Worcester Baptist Church, a growing, family orientated church in the centre of the beautiful city of Worcester. Working primarily with 11-18 year olds, you will be discipling and encouraging them as they grow in their knowledge of Jesus, alongside a team of dedicated volunteers. There will also be opportunities to build relationships with those not connected to the church through schools work and outreach activities. 

The successful applicant will train with Midlands CYM in Nottingham on their BA (hons) course in Youth and Community Work and Practical Theology degree (JNC recognised). This is a placement based course so working for the church is part of the degree.

Ideally you will start around June 2018 prior to the beginning of the academic year. The basic terms being: 

  • Salary: £6,370 (14hr/week) (equivalent to £16,835 pro rata)
  • Initial 3 year fixed term contract for the duration of the course
  • 14 hours per week (college study time is outside of these hours)
  • 5 weeks per year holiday
  • Annual book allowance of £200

Normal out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed, including travel costs to Nottingham for your college study days, and the annual college admin fee will be covered by the church. We will provide accommodation throughout the duration of your course should that be needed.

The student will be expected to be a committed Christian and attend Worcester Baptist Church during the placement.
